I’m Excited

I have recieved a Versatile Bloggers Award from my beautiful friend  over at   Mama of 2 Boys and I just love it thank you so much. Now I have to tell you 5 things you may notice about me if you were to meet me in real life.

So here’s what I think!

 1.     You would see a woman with a camera in her face, I never go anywhere without my camera my love of photography and not missing a precious moment is what I’m all about.
2.    I will be wearing a dress most of the time, I love dresses the little girl in me lives forever, long short or in between I simply couldn’t have too many.

3.    My nails most people ask me where I have them done, and are amazed when I tell them they are real.....all my own and they will often have a closer look.  I’m lucky to have strong nails that grow fast.

4.    I call all female friends “Woman” in a conversation all the time such as...... hello woman.....so what have you been up too woman.......a habit that has never left me! Though I do love what we as women represent.

5.    Ok leaving the worst thing you’ll know about me till last...............I’m extremely slow at making decisions about everything in life seriously, even the simple things, like what to eat when we go out for dinner the LOML will always say to the waiter..........no rush we will be awhile yet, or sometimes he will often pick up a menu days before we go out Mmm.....how bad is that!  I love shopping but it can be a nightmare deciding which one I want.........do I have that in white pink or maybe blue, hence the reason I hardly even shop alone I always try and take someone with me to help me decide.

Now the fun part of the game to pass it onto 5 other beautiful blogger friends.......Just let me say can you imagine how hard this was deciding who to pass it onto......yep another enormously gruelling decision I had to make! It would have been easier for me to give the award to everyone of you my friends.
So there you have it a few things you may notice about me should we meet.

Mondays Memories

I have a tendency to keep as busy as possible when I’m under stress or have a lot on my mind, sometimes I completely go over the top with obsessive cleaning....... like all day, or taking on other tasks such as painting whatever it is, I normally can’t stop until I have cleared my head.
So early last week all I did was clean and rearranged my lovely things around my home and then today I decided to paint the outside of my home...........I know what have I started and just before Christmas!

One thing I will remember, next time I have the crazy idea of moving everything around, is reminding the LOML several times before going to bed.
The poor thing forgot and during the night he went to get a glass of water and fell over the trunk I had placed in the hallway. He not only has a very badly bruised leg but also a rather large lump from falling into the wall. I felt so sorry for him limping around today, so I moved the trunk back into our bedroom, let’s hope he remembers where it is tonight.

I have a big day planned for tomorrow I’m off to shop till I drop it’s time to ensure I find all the presents on Santa’s list for my little ones. Also the LOML has a birthday one week before Christmas usually I hold back with some presents as I like to give him most of them for Christmas.  Not this year I’ve decided to spoil him rotten, and believe me, he so deservers it I’m thinking of maybe a lovely watch and some Calvin Klein Obsession. So with my best dress and shoes ready to go, I will set out early for Brisbane with my beautiful daughter!
So tell me my friends have you finished your Christmas shopping!

Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday my lovely friends, last Thursday the LOML decided we should take off for a few days together, a little rest and relaxation, he said, was just what we needed I’m so glad we did. I have come home feeling much stronger and ready to fill my days with happy memories and prepare for the most beautiful time of the year Christmas. Tomorrow I’ve decided to put up our Christmas tree early. We normally don’t decorate it until the first of December however I want to begin all the excitement now with only 34 days to go I don’t want to miss a thing.

I love everything about Christmas and even enjoy shopping when all the Centres are full of hundreds of people it just adds to the hype for me. Christmas with family and friends preparing our beautiful table to ensure we eat and drink too much the laughter and stories it brings, and especially watching the children and grandchildren opening their presents it’s all just a magical time.

Opening my blog tonight and seeing all your lovely comments for my beautiful Sisters tribute made my heart so full with gratitude for your support and friendship thank you all so very much. I’m always so happy to see you visit and leave me a little note, I really am very lucky to find such wonderful friends.

What about you my friends are you ready for Christmas!

In Memory of My Beautiful Sister

My sister was the most courageous woman I have ever known. Her resilience throughout her life is something I will always remember and aspire to achieve.
I will smile when I think of you Sis, and remember the sound of your laugh
I will fill in the spaces when someone asks about you,
and tell them from my heart who you really are
I will speak your name with pride, as if you were here by my side
I will take all that you have taught me, and promise to pass it on
I will continue to take you with me we will never be apart.

I will cry sometimes too when my heartaches for you

I will remember every moment we shared between us Sis;
they are engraved in my heart
I will wake up with the thought of you, and take you in my dreams
I will be forever grateful for the sister you have been.

I will miss our time together and I cherish everyone
I will never be the same sis without you here with me,
you filled my heart with so much love;

I can’t help but feel the pain of not seeing you again

So sis remember when I told you I’ll try to be strong
well I’ve tried very hard to do what you asked,
but I must be really honest sis, it’s ripped at my heart.
It’s time to say I love you sis we will never be apart you're
right here with me always and forever in my heart
So just before I go sis I’ll play you a little song, one that you’ll remember
so I know you’ll sing along.
A year ago today

I hope you enjoy my video tribute my friends for my Sister with love

Happy Birthday Son

On this November day in 1984 our Son Joel was born at 10.50am six weeks early born so fragile and not knowing how to breathe he finally made it through with our love and strength and a wonderful medical staff.  A little miracle to begin with after some pregnancy scares, he grew stronger every day. Today he turns 27 years old and is over 6ft 5inch tall it seems strange looking back on photos of this little premature baby boy.

So blessed to have such a loving son who always thinks of others first, his sharp witty personality makes me laugh everyday (takes after his father) I call him my quiet achiever. Joel has followed his dad in Swim coaching after a remarkable swimming career winning medals at State Country and National level, qualifying for both the commonwealth and Olympic trials.
Joel gives a great deal of his time teaching underprivileged children for free he once raised over $15, ooo for a skate park for a community where children only had the streets to play in. His swimming career funding has always been donated back to children or clubs knowing they will enjoy life so much more playing on their skateboards, instead of hanging around the streets.
In the year 2000 special Medals were awarded from the Queen by the then Prime Minister John Howard. Joel was awarded a medal at Government House for his work and contribution to children of small community towns and for his outstanding swimming achievements, we have always been so very proud of him.

Now a grown adult I enjoy watching him excel at his biggest achievement thus far fatherhood, it’s so extremely special watching your own son feel the incredible love for his child, as we felt for him, when he was little and still do.

We love you more with each new day!

One Love One Life One Time

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday everyday is all about him, the LOML. Today we celebrate 31 years of marriage a commitment to each other that has surpassed all my expectations of what love really means.
Our love of the beach brought us together.......laying on the sand reading a book I noticed him surfing out in the water, then when he was finished he started to walk up to me....I must admit my friends I was too scared to look behind me in case there was someone else he was walking too, but no.....he approached me and said......could you please undo my wetsuit zipper! We met many times on that beach after that day.
Now at times I think he knows me better than I know myself, he senses when I need him the most......a simple smile, a touch at precisely the right time, the post it notes of love he leaves on the bathroom mirror. It’s the little things he does that completely melt my heart. His denied me nothing in my life yet it is him, who enriches my soul every day. To have found each other out of all the people in the world is truly a gift that I never take for granted.
I remember every moment with him, and could talk about this incredible Man forever. The story of us is never ending it’s about sharing a love through happiness and embracing our storms of life together, after all we are the map our future follows adding our own destinations with each new day.
Happy Anniversary Sweetness

Tell me my friends was it love at first sight for you too!

Happy Birthday Sis

Over the years I know I have told you how much I love you

Yet it never seems enough to describe how I really feel about you

So here’s a little gift of what I’d like to say on this day your birthday

It is to remind you of how precious you are to me

That I admire who you are and for what you’ve achieved

To tell you that your loyalty has never gone unnoticed

It’s a thankyou for every time we have shared a worry or a tear

For every time you have listened and taken the time to understand

It’s for the memories of our mother that I didn’t know

And the photos you kept from so long ago

It’s to tell you I remember all my younger years
when you read to me, dressed played and looked after me,

For those times when you were more than a Sister need be

My gift to you Sis

Is I promise and assure you that all our memories are safe

I’ve placed them in my heart where they can never be erased

I promise to defend you, should the occasion ever rise

I promise that I’ll love you for the rest of my life

Wish You Where Here I Miss You So Very Much

Happy Birthday Sis

Mondays Memories

Happy Halloween

I have had a lovely week my friends, the first part I spent finishing off some special photo frames to hang in the hallway that has been long overdue. My journal book had only 3 pages left so I needed to buy and cover a new one there are some beautiful ones at kikki.K and Typo but every so often I love to make and cover my own.
We had more Birthday celebrations this week our sweet little grandson, turned 7 years old, he is a gifted little boy who lives with Autism, he has an amazing smile that melts your heart and every day he teaches us something new. Our little man has progressed beyond belief, now in year 1 at school and although challenging he loves it, we are so very proud of him.

The past few years we have combined his birthday with Halloween he enjoys dressing up with the family and going trick and treating around the neighbourhood. The funny thing is he like to do tricks for everyone instead of receiving the treats sometimes it’s magic or knock knock jokes, we have so much fun with him. So tonight being our annual Halloween party we dress up and wait for our usual little tricksters to come and visit us for an awesome scream of excitement and then we set off with our children and grandchildren for trick or treating around our local streets, I love these opportunities when you get to play like a child again.......let the fun begin!

I hope you had a fun Halloween did you get many little tricksters visit you

Mondays Memories

This week has been somewhat mixed with events and emotions, firstly holding my friends hand as she farewelled her Father in a very touching ceremony, I was so very proud of her she spoke as only she could about her  love and the memories she shared with her wonderful Dad. I was also pleased with my strength in helping her through one of the toughest days of her life; these kinds of goodbyes are never easy.

Wednesday was extremely special being my beautiful daughter’s birthday and was celebrated been pampered to the fullest. I presented her with my memento book of her past 30 years and a few other handmade gifts, which included a pair of amethyst earrings her favourite gem stone. Choni had no idea I had put the book together for her and just loved it; I was really happy how it turned out and thank you so much my friends for all your lovely comments on the pictures.
My Dad arrived on Friday to stay with us for a couple of days, when winter falls on the south coast of NSW around May of each year he packs up his Winnebago and followers the sun to far north QLD. I love hearing about his adventures the places he finds and new friend he meets along the way.  Again around October when the sun becomes too hot up north he travels back home for the summer. It’s always fun looking at all his photos, laughing with him as he tells us stories about his trip. Although I always miss him when he leaves, I ‘m happy that he is doing what he loves, is in good health and  living the life that brings him so much joy.

Sunday the LOML and I just spent the day lazing around home and went for a late coffee and a walk down the beach, although we see each other every day you can still have a week so full that you don’t really get to catch up on special alone time together without the day to day little interruptions so every chance we get we take it!

How did you spend your weekend my friends, was the sun shining at your place!

Moments In Time

Happy Birthday Chontele
On a beautiful Monday the 19th of October at 2.45pm the story of you embraced my heart. I will never forget that moment in time, there you were in my arms, a face sweeter than sugar skin so delicate and soft your little eyes sparkling up at me, I touched your hand and promised.....I’d love you for eternity!!!

Well my friends yesterday we celebrated our beautiful daughters 30th birthday  it was a truly magical day. All she wanted was a day off relaxing and we gave her just that. My lovely daughter in-law and I decided  a few weeks ago we could all do with a little pampering , so we surprised her with a day out at the Twin Waters Resort for lunch and ended with a lovely Lagoon Day Spa.
Our day spa started with  having our bodies massaged ............this was blissful, our feet said “oh thank you to whoever invented  pedicures we then had a facial that made our skin glow, afterwards we indulged in a fruit and cheese platter washing it down with a little champagne. We laughed and talked about Choni’s growing up years.
A little story Choni remembered was........When she was around 13 years of age she went through a stage of slamming her bedroom door which drove her father crazy. One day he said, please don’t slam your door anymore or I will take it off......Mmm of cause she did....so out with the tools and off that bedroom door came, I remember her running up stairs to me in total shock, saying Mum you have to do something....Dad is taking my door off! I said well sweetheart he did warn you. The door stayed off for 4 days, after much begging and promises of........to never slam her door again, the door went back on, whenever that door.........would accidently slam again she would yell out sorry it was the wind........that door never got slammed again!
My memories of her are endless and precious, still the one I’ll always cherish is that first day she came into my life!  No matter what her age.........she will always be Daddy's little Girl! And our only daughter and through the years my closest friend.

"We love you sweetheart with every beat of our heart"

How about you my friends have you ever been to a day spa!

A little sad today

Sorry I have been a little quiet these past few days my friends, I have spent a couple of days with a very close friend who I met around 36 years ago she was my bridesmaid and I’m godmother to her son we are always there for each other.

On Friday her father passed away I have very loving memories of him over the years. My heartaches for her loss she was extremely close to her Dad and I feel her pain so very much. These past few days we have cried together and reminisced about happy memories of time spent on holidays with her family. My friend has been such an inspiration for me during some tragedies of my own, leaving her was very emotional for me I just wanted to hold onto her and yet I knew I couldn’t, that no matter how heartbroken we are we need time to ourselves.

Yet coming home unleashed some very raw feelings that I know have been building up inside of me. I felt crushed and broke down unable to pull myself together like I normally do, past memories started flooding back and no matter how hard I tried  I couldn’t stop the tears.

Eleven months ago I lost my beautiful sister to cancer something I know I will never recover from. Each day I struggle with not seeing or touching her again, I miss spending time with her and sharing all life’s events we planned for the future, laughing and talking about our children and grandchildren going for lunch shopping together, I miss everything about her. My sister was the bravest person I have ever known not once did she ever complain through this painful hideous disease that ripped her life from under her. Even towards the end as frail as she became her beautiful face would smile at me, touch my hand and say “it’s ok everything will be alright”.

Although I knew our time together would be limited I prayed and hoped for a little miracle that somehow someone would make her well again.  There will always be a piece of my heart that only belongs to her, I’m grateful I had the time to tell her what an honour it has been to love and share my life with her. We laid my sister to rest with our Mother I have a very strong belief that they are now together, I know I will always miss them both so very much.

My family have been my strength these past months and I know in my heart I could not have come so far without their love and understanding. I guess I have to accept that some days, for whatever the reason or for no reason at all, It will be hard to cope with the loss of my Mother and sister, than others days, I think today has been one of those days.

I’m thankful for all of you here too my friends for helping me, through your lovely visits and comments. When I open my blog and see you here with me it always makes me smile, I love being a little part of your world and want you to know how much I appreciate your time and friendship.

From my heart to yours, thanks for letting me share today with you!

Special Gifts

I had such a lovely lunch yesterday with my friend Lisa and her daughter Millie who have just become a Mum and Grandmother for the first time. I loved cuddling up with little baby Byron and spoilt him with a teddy some new clothes and a special photo frame for when I have the opportunity to photograph him next week. He is so adorable and didn’t cry the whole three and half hours I was there. My dear friend prepared an amazing seafood and mango salad for our lunch followed by the most scrumptious chocolate fondue with strawberries and marshmallows I could hardly move afterwards.

Before I left Lisa and Millie, they gave me a beautiful card that read..... To our special angel friend who has blessed our life with love and support over many years thank you for just being you!  And with it a lovely gift, one of my favourite perfumes “Princess by Vera Wang”, I was very touched, I’m truly grateful to share my life with such beautiful women who have endured so much in the past 12 months.

I didn’t return home until nearly 3.30pm, by the time it came for me to make some dinner for the LOML, well I simply wasn’t hungry, so I kind of cheated  a little bit and just ordered pizza for him. I felt bad after the 3 course lunch I had enjoyed. Though hubby didn’t mind as he very rarely gets to indulge in his favourite junk food, so my guilt didn’t last long!

I hope you’re enjoying your week my friends and share some here with me!

Mondays Memories

My week has been full of sweet memories my friends and a little laughter along the way. My daughter is turning the Big “30” in 9 days so I have been reminiscing over many photos, old preschool painting and little notes and special poems she had given me over the years. I must confess some tears did fall.....though only through how much she has engraved my heart with love.

I decided a month ago to make her a little book of some of those memories we have shared together with some special clippings I have written about her in my many years of journaling. There are photos of our most precious moments together...... such as been her birthing partner for all her children along with her hubby and of course her own treasured entry into my world. I have only a few pages left to finish and hope to share a little with you before her special day arrives!

Saturday I spend some long overdue time in the garden (with no snakes thank heavens).... The weather on the coast has been just lovely these past few days warming up our spring days. My natives especially the bottle bushers are full of colour and the lovely kangaroo paws look wonderful.
Sundays as you know my favourite day of all days was just as lovely as ever, though I didn’t do all that much really, the LOML helped out a friend with his pool problems, and I just lazed around on the veranda reading and catching up on some overdue journal writing and photo editing and enjoyed every minute!

I hope you all had lovely weekends my friends and share it here with me!
