Mondays Memories

My weekend started with a visit from my wonderful brother and his beautiful wife we went out for dinner talked and reminisced about the good old days. Saturday while the boys played golf, my sister in law and I decided to do some serious damage at the shops, with still so many Christmas presents to buy I did extremely well with only 3 people left to buy for now.

Early Sunday morning we went market hopping from one end of the sunshine coast to the other. I haven’t been to the markets in a long time we really enjoyed walking around looking at all the talent that was on display. We finished off a great weekend with a lovely lunch at the Caloundra Markets listening to one of our local bands playing in the park.
Sunday night I finally made a start on my Christmas cards I love making my own photo cards for my precious family and friends, hopefully I will have them all finished tomorrow so the ones that need posting will arrive in time.

Hope you share some of your weekend with me my friends!

Mondays Memories

Every year our street Elizamay Close has a street Christmas party we really love this tradition, when we first brought our property in May 2004 that November we received our first Christmas party invitation from house no 8 of Elizamay, home to Jerry & Carol since then our little street gathers together every year on the first weekend in December to celebrate Christmas with Elizamay and all that live in our little ‘Close”.
The tradition started when Frank who lives at the very bottom of Elizamay no 10 had the only property on the close then Pete & Mary built their home so of course Frank welcomed them and they would get together every year for a Christmas drink, then Jerry & Carol built their home 2 years later so Frank invited Jerry & Carol to join them and so the story continued each and every time someone new moved into Elizamay Close they would receive and invitation, there are now 10 homes and now our little Close is complete.

I remember when we first received our invitation our son was still living at home after Jerry had hand delivered ours to us. Joel asked what it was for so I told him our street is having a Christmas party, he said wow mum it’s just like the show neighbours on TV, so funny.

We all bring a plate and chairs make a donation of $10 towards the meat for the BBQ. There is an old tree in the middle of the road at the end of Elizamay that acts as a turnaround point and this is where we gather together. Over the years it has grown we have added beautiful Christmas light and decorations and of course Frank always dresses up like Santa.

We really enjoy embracing our time with everyone because apart from waving in the car as we pass each other on our daily business or on the odd time we see each other when we go to the letterbox to retrieve our mail we don’t really get to catch up on the year that was, except when we celebrate living in Elizamay Close at Christmas time.
Merry Christmas Elizamay!

How about you my friends, do you get together with your neighbours or decorate your home in lights hope you share some of your Christmas spirit with me!

Mondays Memories

We have had some lovely days here in Wendys World the sun has has been shining all weekend. I just had to put my Christmas tree up early this year and she looks so Beautiful!!! the anticipation was too much for me anymore.  I’m like a little kid when it comes to Christmas already asking the LOML what his getting me........and I get the same answer every year “have you been good......Yes.......really good........Oh Yes.......then you’ll just have to wait and see what Santa brings you!!!
I spent a wonderful day shopping with my beautiful daughter in Brisbane last week yet, I still have so much more to buy and can’t wait to venture out again this Thursday I love Christmas shopping. Did I tell you how much I Looooove Christmas.

On Saturday we spent most of our time laying around and swimming at the beach with the little ones, our youngest makes me laugh every time a wave would come rolling in she would start running up the sand saying..........Nar Nar you didn’t get me, just too beautiful. We had a delicious chicken and salad lunch provided by my sweetest daughter in-law we are so lucky to have her in our family just love her too bits.
Sunday the LOML and I enjoyed our breakfast on the veranda as we do every Sunday morning reading the paper and catching up. We had a little visitor join us this time a delightful little Kookaburra that certainly had a lot to say, I love listening to them we are incredibly spoilt  where we live and it is something we never take for granted.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend my friends and share some of your special moments here with me.

Mondays Memories

I have a tendency to keep as busy as possible when I’m under stress or have a lot on my mind, sometimes I completely go over the top with obsessive cleaning....... like all day, or taking on other tasks such as painting whatever it is, I normally can’t stop until I have cleared my head.
So early last week all I did was clean and rearranged my lovely things around my home and then today I decided to paint the outside of my home...........I know what have I started and just before Christmas!

One thing I will remember, next time I have the crazy idea of moving everything around, is reminding the LOML several times before going to bed.
The poor thing forgot and during the night he went to get a glass of water and fell over the trunk I had placed in the hallway. He not only has a very badly bruised leg but also a rather large lump from falling into the wall. I felt so sorry for him limping around today, so I moved the trunk back into our bedroom, let’s hope he remembers where it is tonight.

I have a big day planned for tomorrow I’m off to shop till I drop it’s time to ensure I find all the presents on Santa’s list for my little ones. Also the LOML has a birthday one week before Christmas usually I hold back with some presents as I like to give him most of them for Christmas.  Not this year I’ve decided to spoil him rotten, and believe me, he so deservers it I’m thinking of maybe a lovely watch and some Calvin Klein Obsession. So with my best dress and shoes ready to go, I will set out early for Brisbane with my beautiful daughter!
So tell me my friends have you finished your Christmas shopping!

Happy Halloween

I have had a lovely week my friends, the first part I spent finishing off some special photo frames to hang in the hallway that has been long overdue. My journal book had only 3 pages left so I needed to buy and cover a new one there are some beautiful ones at kikki.K and Typo but every so often I love to make and cover my own.
We had more Birthday celebrations this week our sweet little grandson, turned 7 years old, he is a gifted little boy who lives with Autism, he has an amazing smile that melts your heart and every day he teaches us something new. Our little man has progressed beyond belief, now in year 1 at school and although challenging he loves it, we are so very proud of him.

The past few years we have combined his birthday with Halloween he enjoys dressing up with the family and going trick and treating around the neighbourhood. The funny thing is he like to do tricks for everyone instead of receiving the treats sometimes it’s magic or knock knock jokes, we have so much fun with him. So tonight being our annual Halloween party we dress up and wait for our usual little tricksters to come and visit us for an awesome scream of excitement and then we set off with our children and grandchildren for trick or treating around our local streets, I love these opportunities when you get to play like a child again.......let the fun begin!

I hope you had a fun Halloween did you get many little tricksters visit you

Mondays Memories

This week has been somewhat mixed with events and emotions, firstly holding my friends hand as she farewelled her Father in a very touching ceremony, I was so very proud of her she spoke as only she could about her  love and the memories she shared with her wonderful Dad. I was also pleased with my strength in helping her through one of the toughest days of her life; these kinds of goodbyes are never easy.

Wednesday was extremely special being my beautiful daughter’s birthday and was celebrated been pampered to the fullest. I presented her with my memento book of her past 30 years and a few other handmade gifts, which included a pair of amethyst earrings her favourite gem stone. Choni had no idea I had put the book together for her and just loved it; I was really happy how it turned out and thank you so much my friends for all your lovely comments on the pictures.
My Dad arrived on Friday to stay with us for a couple of days, when winter falls on the south coast of NSW around May of each year he packs up his Winnebago and followers the sun to far north QLD. I love hearing about his adventures the places he finds and new friend he meets along the way.  Again around October when the sun becomes too hot up north he travels back home for the summer. It’s always fun looking at all his photos, laughing with him as he tells us stories about his trip. Although I always miss him when he leaves, I ‘m happy that he is doing what he loves, is in good health and  living the life that brings him so much joy.

Sunday the LOML and I just spent the day lazing around home and went for a late coffee and a walk down the beach, although we see each other every day you can still have a week so full that you don’t really get to catch up on special alone time together without the day to day little interruptions so every chance we get we take it!

How did you spend your weekend my friends, was the sun shining at your place!

Mondays Memories

My week has been full of sweet memories my friends and a little laughter along the way. My daughter is turning the Big “30” in 9 days so I have been reminiscing over many photos, old preschool painting and little notes and special poems she had given me over the years. I must confess some tears did fall.....though only through how much she has engraved my heart with love.

I decided a month ago to make her a little book of some of those memories we have shared together with some special clippings I have written about her in my many years of journaling. There are photos of our most precious moments together...... such as been her birthing partner for all her children along with her hubby and of course her own treasured entry into my world. I have only a few pages left to finish and hope to share a little with you before her special day arrives!

Saturday I spend some long overdue time in the garden (with no snakes thank heavens).... The weather on the coast has been just lovely these past few days warming up our spring days. My natives especially the bottle bushers are full of colour and the lovely kangaroo paws look wonderful.
Sundays as you know my favourite day of all days was just as lovely as ever, though I didn’t do all that much really, the LOML helped out a friend with his pool problems, and I just lazed around on the veranda reading and catching up on some overdue journal writing and photo editing and enjoyed every minute!

I hope you all had lovely weekends my friends and share it here with me!

Mondays Memories

I had the pleasure on Friday to celebrate with my dear friend Lisa who became a Grandmother for the first time, her daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby Boy, they have blessed him with the name Byron weighing in at 9lb 6oz. It was very special for me to share this amazing time with her!
Congratulations to my wonderfully talented son in –law who along with his team mates won the knock out grand final on the weekend. I felt very proud indeed watching him play on TV cheering him on.......even though he couldn’t hear me it was very exciting!

So my friends I have enjoyed an abundance of joy over the past couple of days sharing in the happiness and celebrations of friends and family.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and share it here with me!

Mondays Memories

I have been so busy doing the things I love these past four days! My weekend started Friday with a lovely photo shoot that I will post a little later in the week. DreamTime Photography Art is soon to be launched on the web sooo excited! Thanks to everyone for your lovely comments on my photos of the Teddy Bears Picnic I hope you will continue to give me some feedback as I will be posting my work every Friday......as Fridays Photos.

Saturday we had the beautiful five grandchildren and spent the day at Mooloolaba beach, the older three love riding the waves into the shore, while our smallest two enjoy getting their hands all mushy in the wet sand and crashing down Poppas Bears sand castles so funny!
Sunday we celebrated our second youngest granddaughters 3rd Birthday we brought her a microphone stand that plays music while she can sing along.......and sing and dance she did! Our little performer kept us entertained in laughter for hours. These children fill my heart with so much love.....I only have to think of them and my life feels so complete!
How did you spend your weekend hope you share it with me!

Mondays Memories

I’ve had a lovely few days we have enjoyed dinner and way too much wine with our beautiful friends still reminiscing and laughing till our bellies hurt.
Over the weekend we had our five gorgeous grandchildren stay over as the older three are now on school holidays, so I’m hoping to talk their parents into leaving them for an extra couple of days (wish me luck). Although I must say my house looks nothing like it did before they arrived, though I do love the sound of little voices around me and of course all those hugs and kisses!

It is amazing just how many you can fit into one queen size bed, in fact we found out Sunday morning you can have two adults lying completely on their sides with a half inch to spare before falling out, while two small children lie sideways across the bed on top of your legs until you no longer can feel them, and three little ones in between the two adults so there you have it seven can uncomfortably fit in our bed at once............ Just so you know the little ones slept soundly!

I Hope you all had a lovely weekend and share some of yours here with me!

Mondays Memories

Saturday the 10th September 2010 was the day our 5 th grandchild was born first child for my Son and his lovely partner, a beautiful little girl I feel so truly blessed to have been a part of the births of all my grandchildren seeing each one of them take their first breath is something that I will always be forever grateful for and never forget.

Celebrating number fives 1st Birthday this weekend with family and close friends was very special. Looking back over this past year watching our little one grow has gone by in a blink, though each day with her is entrenched in my heart.

Sunday has always been my favourite day of the week waking up next to the LOML and enjoying breakfast together is what I look forward to all week. In the afternoon we decided to go for a walk along the esplanade grab a coffee and watch the waves roll in.
How did you spend your weekend, hope you share it here with me!

A Fair to Remember
Saturday was a beautiful day spent with the little ones at their fair we enjoyed watching our two eldest grandchildren perform their Hip Hop dance with their class. Then it was time for fun rides on the slippery slide, Char Char, dodgem cars, large ferries wheel just to mention a few.
We had fairy floss, hot dogs, soft drink, ice cream, hot chips, steak sandwiches, donuts; it seems everyone wanted to eat something different that day, as they do.  Of course we had to have some souvenirs to take home the boys wanted light sabres, number 1 grand daughter chose a fairy doll while number 2 princess decided on a pink teddy.  We really loved watching them having so much fun and listening to the excitement in their voices as they tried to explain how each ride felt on the way home in the car.
Sunday Fathers Day started off with bacon & eggs for breakfast with the LOML.  Then it was off to the beach with our two children and five grandchildren. This was also the first father’s day celebration for my son which made it that little extra special. We played cricket......and I might add the girls won yippee!
Magic box was filled with balloons, bubbles, and water pistols this time, just for a little extra fun. We had a lovely BBQ lunch snags, potato and noodle salad with some fresh bread rolls.....just delicious. I also couldn’t resist packing some chocolate muffins in the picnic basket. It was very relaxing though my favourite part was watching our children, enjoying precious time with their children, a feeling that’s hard to describe!
Hope you share how you spent your father’s day with me.

Mondays Memories

On Saturday I had such a lazy morning it was raining so I decided to give myself breakfast in bed, just because I could!  Looking over more magazines trying to make some decisions on the bathroom colours and to have shelves or not! The final decision is......... shelves it will be colour theme blue gray and white!

The afternoon was spent watching movies on the lounge and I must admit I found myself having a little nanny nap.....woken up with a little kiss and some red roses from the LOML......now I really did think I was dreaming, but they were for real both the kiss and the flowers..........I just felt so special to be married to such a loving man!
Sunday and the sun was shining four of our five beautiful grandchildren are coming to spend the day with us, so I’m the happiest GG (that’s what they call me short for gorgeous grandma) don’t you just love it!

Of course I fill their tummies with all their favourite foods, as GG’s do. We started with ice cream at 11am followed with fairy bread sandwiches and chocolate cake for lunch, lemonade and popcorn for afternoon tea.......Oh did I mention lollies and chips in between!  Our time together is also filled with fun actives, going to the beach or park and lots of love, kisses and laughter too.

Besides they receive all the nutritional food they need from their parents daily.  My physiology is to spoil the grandchildren as much as the parents will allow!!

How was your weekend? Hope you share yours here with me!

Mondays Memories

I have been so busy these past few days in the most wonderful way!
Friday was an exceptional day every year my grandchildren’s school celebrates Grandparents Day I practically love this day. It gives the children an opportunity to share with us all the work they have achieved throughout the year. We have morning tea with other grandparents and teachers afterwards (the scones are to die for). I believe the children also display a sense of pride in introducing us to their teachers and friends, I just love the feeling that they want everyone to know who we are, it’s really a magical day spent with all three little ones!

Saturday was just as special, the LOML and I have been trying it organize a lunch together for weeks now and finally it happened. We decided to take a trip up to Montville a little town we both adore visiting. We normally have lunch at one of the charming little cafes and on the way home stop at the beautiful lookout, the view is so serene it’s like you’re on top of the world. This time we decided to take a picnic and have lunch there, it was perfect we had it all to ourselves soaking up the sun good food and time together.

Sunday morning waking hearing the rain on our tin roof is always a lovely sound knowing you can just roll over and cuddle the one you love for as long as your heart desires is a beautiful start to any day!
How did you spend your weekend hope you share some of it here with me.
